Assistance
*TEMPORARY FEEDING ASSISTANCE VIA HAY BANK. We maintain a hay bank and will step in with free hay for up to one month for approved applicants to help you get back on your feet. Unfortunately, this program is geared to the horse owner with less than 3 horses as our financial resources are limited. Each application is reviewed on a "case by case" basis. Download application HERE.
*LOW COST AND REDUCED COST CASTRATIONS. We work with local veterinarians to offer a low cost means for you to geld your colts and stallions. Unwanted horses due to accidental breedings are a growing issue but you can help prevent this by responsibly gelding your colts and stallions. Annual clinics and individual castration appointments are available. The program requires a partial donation from the horse owner. Transportation is the responsibility of the horse owner; however, a list of available transporters for hire will be provided. Download application HERE.
*ASSISTANCE IN RE-HOMING HORSES. If you can no longer keep your horse, we will help you to find a new home. We are not a rescue and do not take in horses but we work with owners to place their horses in a responsible manner utilizing our website and email contacts to let the community know you have a horse you are willing to offer FREE TO A GOOD HOME. Click here to contact us.
*FOSTER FACILITIES FOR SRC ANIMAL SERVICES. We work with Santa Rosa County Animal Services to locate approved foster care facilities for seized and abandoned horses until they can be placed in new homes. If you or someone you know would be interested in learning more about becoming a foster care provider for our county, please contact us here. To download the an application click here.
*Educational assistance and counseling. If you are struggling with issues with your horse, we will provide guidance on the best ways to care for them. Click here to contact us.
*Evacuation and emergency response resources. In case of disasters, we maintain a current list of resources from evacuation stabling to horse transporters to assist local horse owners with getting their horses to safety. Click here to download our resource list.
If you are a Santa Rose County horse owner and you find yourself needing help, please call us. SRCHAC is not a rescue - it is a network of local residents who come together to help other residents in need.
We all face challenges in life - please call on us for help before your animals suffer.

* De-worming and vaccination protocols
We are happy to work with barns of all sizes as well as individual horse owners to tailor an educational program for you.
We especially encourage anyone thinking of getting a horse to contact us and arrange a new horse owner visit.
